Refined and sophisticated, Susan Point's striking and distinctive art in the Coast Salish tradition has garnered worldwide acclaim. Her freshness of vision, inventive use of a variety of mediums, and her talent for working on a large scale have led to many prestigious commissions. In Vancouver, Her work is on permanent display at the Museum of Anthropology at UBC, and the Vancouver International Airport, where her “Salish Woman”, “Salish Man”, and “Flight” grace the international re-entry lobby and welcome weary travellers home. In 2007 she was commissioned by Christ Church Cathedral to create a major stained glass installation for the south windows facing Georgia St.

VCC commissioned a new emblem from Ms. Point as part of the choir’s 20th Anniversary celebrations in 2003. "Spirit Song – Echoing the Future” was a real challenge for me," Susan says. “To equate a visual art form with that of an auditory art form, music, was an exercise that I feel will never fully convey the experience and sensation between two of the five senses."

Ms. Point goes on to say, "In creating this original design, there were many ideas that I wanted to convey, some of which were: impression of sound; giving voice; children of the earth; the unique west coast environment; and elements of traditional Salish art, a legacy of my ancestral visual language reflecting the spirit or our song."
